Reduce Road Walking along the Way
As funds become available, a new section of the Great Glen Way will be removed from the road. In 2003 a section of almost 1000m was removed from the Gairlochy to Achnacarry Road, and in 2006 2500m was removed from the Blackfold Road.
These projects take a lot of planning and negotiating, but the Rangers are determined to reduce the amount of time you spend walking on roads. Naturally, some sections may be easier to achieve than others, but we cannot change any unless we can raise the necessary money.
If you would like to see less road walking, then this is the project for you. Help us make your walk better by donating to this project. The more money we generate, the faster the road walking will be reduced.

Update February 2009
Amount raised: £22,646.53
The first section of the Great Glen Way chosen to benefit from the donations raised for this project was unfortunately not completed.
The route manger is currently working with a landowner to negotiate removing the route from a section of road in the southern half of the Great Glen. Further developments in this project will be posted on our website as they arise.
